General
Students should arrive to class each day with all applicable materials necessary and be ready to start the day. Basic materials include a composition notebook or "field journal", pens or pencils, and a three ring binder. It is preferable that the binder be exclusive to the class but if students would rather combine several classes into a binder with tabs that is acceptable. School rules are to be followed at all times during class and students should come to class ready to be an active participant and learn the days lesson. Students are expected to be on task and take notes/complete classwork during the allotted time. Failure to complete this work may result in additional assignments or homework and could have a negative impact on their grades.
Academic Honesty
Throughout the year students will be tasked with completing assignments or writings that are graded individual assessments. Students are expected to produce original, independent work for these assignments. If for any reason, a student is caught breaking the schools academic honesty policy, they are subject to a grade of "0" or alternate assignments. This may also constitute a student parent teacher conference to address the issues at hand.
Late Work
Students are expected to complete and turn in all work within the time frame given in class. If a student is absent it is their responsibility to gather the missing work and turn it in within the agreed upon time. Any assignments that are not turned in on their due date will result in a maximum grade of 80% with a 5% additional penalty for each day passed the original date.
Conferences
Please email me directly at [email protected] if you would like to schedule a conference with myself or our 8th grade team. As a team. we strive to have all members present at parent teacher conferences. This is meant to give parents and guardians a full picture of their individual students performance and behaviors throughout the school day. It is also a time saving measure for the parent that allows for a through conference once instead of four separate shorter meetings.
